Sony confirm plans to launch an online store similar to Apple’s iTunes. The virtual store will sell music, movies, books, and various applications.

Sony also promises online stores allow users to upload videos, photos, and other digital content. Sony executive Kazuo Hirai said the new service is expected to depend on the model of the PlayStation Network. Hirai also explained that the network’s PlayStation 3 has become the biggest success of Sony in the market trading online content.
